Character Name: Rory MacAlasdair
Age: 36
World Information: What if the faewild was real wouldn't that be fucked up
Character Information:Human Sìth
Personality:
Though he's relatively well-adjusted, all things considered, Rory is a bit of a mess personality-wise. In less than generous terms, he's a reclusive, workaholic control-freak with severe trust issues and an over-inflated sense of responsibility who wouldn't know what a day-off looked like if it smacked him upside his obnoxiously red head. At any given time it can be assumed that he's tired, irritable, vaguely ill, and most definitely sleep deprived – which only serves to make him seem even more prickly and unapproachable than he already does.
To put things a bit more favorably, Rory is simply so deeply exhausted by life that he is completely done with everyone and everything as a baseline. He has a zero-tolerance policy for nonsense and reacts caustically to provocation, with scathing witticisms and dry remarks being his default responses to most everything, even when he's in a good mood. Or as good of a mood as he can reasonably by in, which isn't much, or often. Though he's far from the friendlies guy around, Rory's distant, unapproachable demeanor belies a good man with a good heart. He may refuse to suffer fools, but he's just as adamant in his refusal to tolerate cruelty and suffering.
Though he pretends otherwise, but Rory is exceedingly compassionate and cares about people far more than he likes to admit, which is why he actively tries to find reasons not to like anybody – he's already unreasonably invested in the welfare of strangers; if he had friends or loved ones to worry about on top of all that, he wouldn't be able to sleep at night. Still, all too often Rory's true nature gets the better of him, and he simply can't help but be kind. He's always fair and morally upright, for certain, but every now and again he'll forget himself and be pleasant while he's being a good person, which tends to ingratiate people to him, which is just not on. He neither wants nor has any idea what to do with gratitude, friendliness, or affection, and the last thing he wants is to encourage other people to seek out his company, or god forbid, care about him in return. The very idea of being important to someone else is more than vaguely terrifying to him, hence the less-than-friendly front he puts on like a suit of unwelcoming armor.

History:
- Born and raised on the Isle of Skye
- Grew from a peculiar child to a peculiar teenager, odd in his habits and his ways of interacting with people and the world around him.
- Bounced from various professionals over the years trying to find a diagnosis that would explain his strange idiosyncrasies - his father insisting all the while he simply had a vivid imagination and a propensity for daydreaming.
- Began keeping his more outlandish observations to himself - if no one else could see the little green man in the corner, then he wasn't about to make himself the odd man out.
- Finished his compulsory education, moved on to university and dabbled a bit in various courses of interest before focusing his efforts on becoming a private detective.
- Spent his twenties and early thirties doing freelance detective work, specializing in finding missing persons and conducting financial investigations. Continued to see and hear things that Definitely Weren't Real™. Continued to ignore them.
- Got shot in the heart on a case that went horribly wrong.
- Somehow didn't fucking die.
- Things only got weirder from there.
- Like no really what the fuck.
- Eventually had to accept he wasn't crazy and the things he had been seeing his whole life were real.
- Stepped into a big steaming pile of supernatural BULLSHIT and has been trying to scrape it off his shoe ever since.
- Still isn't sure what flavor of supernatural bullshit he's got going on, but he's certainly not as human as he would like to be.
